David Bisset

David Bisset is an independent robotics consultant and has worked in Robotics for 27 years. An academic for 10 years he headed the mobile robotics research lab at the University of Kent. In 1998 he was recruited by James Dyson to start the robotics product group at Dyson Ltd. In 2000 the DC06 robot vacuum cleaner was announced but never came to market. He left Dyson in 2002 and founded iTechnic Ltd. Since then he has acted as a consultant in Robotics and Embedded Systems. He is currently working with the Knowledge Transfer Network in developing a set of Thought Leadership Papers on AI and Robotics.

Andrew Tyrer

ISCF Challenge Director, Robotics in Hazardous Environments

Andrew is currently leading the Governments £93m ISCF Robotics in Hazard Environments programme being delivered by UK Research and Innovation. He joined the DTI on secondment from the National Physical Laboratory, to run the Network Security Innovation Platform in April 2006. He transferred to the Technology Strategy Board (Innovate UK) on its inception in July 2007. Andrew has been responsible for research programmes in; Privacy and Consent, Information Infrastructure Protection, Trusted Services, M-Commerce, Cloud Adoption, IoT and Robotics. He has represented Innovate UK on a House of Commons select committee on the use of Biometric Data. As Head of Enabling Capabilities he managed a team of Innovation Lead’s in: Robotics and Autonomous Systems; Electronics, Sensors and Photonics; Design; and Creative Economy. Since April 2018 he has been the Director for the ISCF Robotics Challenge. Andrew is a passionate STEM Ambassador and actively encourages links from UK Research and Innovation back into the Higher Education sector.
